Form for Nurse Administered Medication
Students need to have a form on file with the school nurse if they are taking any medication while on the trip. Please fill out the appropriate form and return to our school nurse no later than 5/5/25.
Meals:
Thursday Breakfast: At home before arriving at school
Thursday Lunch: Bag lunch provided from home to be eaten on the bus
Thursday Dinner: Buffet at American University Dining Hall
Friday Breakfast: Buffet at American University Dining Hall
Friday Lunch: Students provided $20 by chaperone to buy lunch at location of chaperones choosing
Friday Dinner: Students provided $20 by chaperone to buy lunch at Biden Welcome Center rest stop on I-95
Rooms and Groups:
Students will stay in rooms of up to 2 students
Student may form a chaperone group (8-14 students per chaperone)
Students will self select their rooms and groups in mid-April
Chaperones will be assigned in May
Lodging provided by American University (bedding provided, not no toiletries)
Packing Instructions:
Each student is allowed one piece of luggage which can be stored under the bus and one small backpack or bag to bring on the bus.
Students will be provided with a T-shirt for day 1 and another for day 2. They are required to wear the provided shirts while on the trip.
Washington can be very warm in May, so please check the weather forecast to determine appropriate clothing.
Rain gear including a rain jacket / poncho / umbrella may be necessary depending on the forecast.
Comfortable shoes are imperative, as there is a great deal of walking on the trip.
A small amount of spending money is at your discretion, but not necessary.
Snacks are allowed, but please only send a reasonable amount.
Sunscreen and refillable water bottles are recommended.
No portable speakers or gaming consoles are allowed on the trip.
Phones are allowed on the trip, but will be kept by the chaperones at night. They will be returned first thing in the morning.
Shirts for the Washington D.C. Trip:
8th grade students will vote on the color of their shirts in the early spring. Shirts will be distributed the week of the trip.
Day 1 T-shirt will be worn for the 1st day.
Day 2 T-shirt will be worn for the 2nd day of the trip and be the color worn in the group picture.
